7-11 Walking Field Trips

This week four of our intermediate classes went on separate waking field trips from the school over to 7-11 to get Slurpees and other treats. Everyone had a great time. Some were even lucky enough to have sunny weather, some were not as fortunate.

Community Coming Together

At the beginning of the year the PAC decided that their fundraising goal was $80,000 for an accessible playground addition. Unfortunately, even with generous private donations they have not been able to hit that goal so they have pivoted to a two phased approach.

Our grounds crew has prepared the foundation and the latest update is that phase one playground equipment is to arrive at the end June! So many events have taken place to make this happen.

District Chess Tournament

Division 18, Grade 1/2 French Immersion had a team of four boys participate in the Fraser Chess tournament on Saturday from 8:30am until 1pm. The two grade 1 boys won medals: Bennett 2nd place and Archie 3rd place. Imryn and Tyson were strong contenders playing in the grade 2 division. Way to go all four of you!!!! You make Sandy Hill proud! Such focus to play chess at a young age is very impressive. They often choose to play chess during their exploring time in class.

Access zones now in place to protect kids at school

B.C.’s K-12 students and staff will be protected from harassing protesters as the Province enacts access zones around schools.

“Every kid and teacher in our province has the right to go to school without being disrupted by aggressive or hateful protests,” said Premier David Eby. “Our government is taking action to protect kids and ensure schools remain safe spaces by establishing no-go zones for protestors. I want people who think it’s OK to intimidate or harass kids while they’re trying to learn or play at school to know that what you’re doing is now illegal.”
