Sandy Hill Community Service Project

We have been busy collecting donations for our Sandy Hill Community Service project to help new refugee families coming to Abbotsford from Afghanistan and Ukraine.  We want to give a HUGE thank you to all the Sandy Hill families for their generous donations!  The Grade 5's will be sorting and making hygiene packs to give to Archway.  We have had donations from Dedicated Dental, Clayburn Dental, Venier Dental and Refine Orthodontics.  Home Depot has also donated ziplock bags.  We are excited to have Abby News come and interview some of our students and take some pict

Congratulations to Division 1 Public Speaking Finalists!

Over the past couple of months, Division 1 students have been hard at work learning how to compose a formal speech and express themselves eloquently while speaking to others.  They have been learning how to use eye contact, vary the pitch and volume of voice while speaking, and use gestures to help convey emotion and sentiment.  They then took to the stage (okay.. just the front of the room).. to entertain, persuade, and enlighten us – the whole class did amazing!

District celebrates 2022 Indigenous Role Models (PHOTOS)

The Abbotsford School District and the Mamel’awt Indigenous Education Centre are proud to announce the 2022 Indigenous Role Models. 

The Indigenous Education Advisory Committee reviewed applications submitted this fall by several remarkable grade 12 Indigenous students from secondary schools throughout the district. These students are acknowledged for connecting to their culture, leadership, and service in their schools and communities, and for their aspirations towards future goals.

Naming consultation for Sports Fields commences

The Abbotsford School District is now accepting submissions from the public for the naming of sports fields located between Colleen & Gordie Howe Middle School and W.J. Mouat Secondary School. At a winter Public Board meeting, Trustees requested that the Secretary-Treasurer commence the process of naming the two sports fields.

Celebrating Vaisakhi

Students at Sandy Hill had the opportunity at celebrate Vaisakhi in various ways.  Students were also able to learn some dance moves from their classmates!

Malicounda Drumming

We were delighted to welcome Malicounda Drumming to our school for 3 days of rhythm and drumming workshops.  Each class had one session with the talented Louise Raymond exploring drumming,  music, and rhythm.  Students and teachers had a fabulous experience.  We thank the school district for providing this opportunity for all of our students!

Even with the ongoing cookie delivery issue, the PAC was able to gift the Sandy Hill Staff with a sweet Friday treat.
