Recess Dance Performances

Students in Grade 2 through 5 put together teams, choreographed and practiced dance routines to present to their peers during recess over the last couple of days. There were lots of laughs, ooing, ahhing, and cheering in the gym! Sandy Hill is lucky to have such a talented group of students!

Lunchtime Skittleball

The Sandy Hill Grade 5s split into two teams and went head-to-head last week! Both teams performed well in front of the Grade 2s and 3s demonstrating how they conquer their learning targets, and to inspire the younger students to play when they reach Grade 5. 

Game ended with a nail-biting tie of 6-6! Way to go Suns!

Carnival Returned!

Sandy Hill Elementary was transformed into a Winter Wonderland on Friday with games, a photo booth, facepainting, concession with popcorn & candy, family pizza, raffle baskets and so much more!

A HUGE thank you the Carnival Committee for organizing such a wonderful community event! Almost $5500 was raised!

Superintendent Dr. Kevin Godden Announces Impending Retirement

Today, Abbotsford School District's Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Godden, announced his intent to retire at the end of the 2022/23 school year to all staff in the district via email. He had discussed this decision with the Abbotsford Board of Education earlier in the school year.

Abbotsford Schools Celebrate the 2023 Lunar New Year

Schools across the Abbotsford School District recognized the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year as part of the lunisolar calendar. Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and other East and Southeast Asian communities in Canada and worldwide were celebrating the beginning of the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Rabbit (or Cat in Vietnamese culture) which was officially recognized on January 22nd, 2023.

Skittleball

One more week of skittle ball! 

This is a picture of the teams combined but it was an optional game (one team had a bye) so not all of our team members were present. We’ve been having a blast and sure appreciate our coaches, Mrs. Fetterly, Mrs. Riddell, Mrs. Jones, Madame Hawkins, and Coach Smith.

B.C. launches anti-racism action plan for K-12 students

(Victoria, Ministry of Education and Child Care) - Empowering students and educators to identify and take action against racism and discrimination in British Columbia schools is the aim of a new provincial K-12 Anti-Racism Action Plan launched on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023.
