Students in Mrs. Roberts class look forward to their weekly visit with Kona and Jackie. These visits allow students to practice reading aloud in a non-judgmental setting, helping reduce anxiety and build confidence over time which can lead to measurable improvements in reading fluency, comprehension, and enjoyment of books. 

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Community Matters Award, an annual award that recognizes outstanding community partners who have exceeded their service mandate and made a significant, deliberate contribution to Abbotsford School District students.

The Community Matters Award celebrates organizations whose sustained commitment and meaningful collaboration have had a lasting impact on student success and well-being across the district.

Skittle ball team 1 had an amazing game against Thomas Swift this week. But the end of the game most players were dripping in sweat!

Team 2 had a fantastic first game against Auguston. Students showed their Sandy Hill Sun spirit cheering each other on and celebrating successful rolls. 

Black Excellence Day celebrates the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history and today. It is a time to honor cultural heritage, leadership, creativity, and innovation across all fields. The day also encourages reflection, education, and continued action toward equity and empowerment.

Thank you for the families who sent in coins or donated with schoolcashonline for our Christmas Neighbours at Sandy Hill initiative! This cherished tradition helps support families in our community who may otherwise have very little during the holidays.

Don’t skip your influenza (flu) shot this year: Fraser Health is reminding everyone that immunization makes a difference. The vaccine shields against several strains of flu and helps lessen the impact of emerging variants, like H3N2.

Elves have been hard at work setting up the first Sun's Secret Holiday Gift Shoppe and it's ready for students to start shopping tomorrow! There are still open spaces to volunteer to help the students shop and wrap their chosen gifts so if you have a free hour or two in the next couple of days please reach out to the PAC at sandyhillpac@gmail.com

Thank you to everyone in the community for donating the items for the shop and to the special elves for organizing the setting up the Shoppe. 

On Friday mornings, parents of division 7 and 11 are invited into the classroom to share a special reading time with students. This simple, joyful experience helps strengthen the home–school connection while fostering a love of books and learning.
