Grade 5 Hoodies and Spirit Wear has arrived and been distributed! A huge thank you to the PAC for subsidizing the Grade 5 hoodies and to the parent who sourced and managed the orders and handed out the spirit wear. They look fantastic!

Across the Abbotsford School District, vibrant celebrations were underway last week to embrace the spirit of Diwali, a significant festival in South Asian cultures that symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

This year, students and staff took the opportunity to learn more about the cultural importance of this festival and celebrate the diversity of our schools.

Our lovely PAC put together a surprise coffee and treats bar for staff this morning!

Thank you for all everything you do for the staff, students and school.

Students had soooo much fun dancing at lunch on Friday. Our first Funky Friday Dance party raised $500 to go towards an accessible playground.

Next Funky Friday will be December 15th.

The English Grade 5's in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 thoroughly enjoyed their skating experience at ARC on Wednesday November 15th. Students had fun playing hockey, chasing their friends, and scooting around on seals. Even Mrs. Fetterly, Mrs. Bonk, and Mrs. Phillips got into the fun!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who accompanied us and helped lace up skates and encourage kids - you were amazing! After more than two hours of skating, the kids even go to enjoy a well-deserved treat back at the school. What a great day!

Sandy Hill staff and students enjoyed a drumming performance from Uzume Taiko. The drummers perform choreographed martial arts based on taiko drum songs. Ask your child(ren) about it!

Sandy Hill was very lucky to have Puneet, Avneet, Keerit and Alisha from Rick Hansen Secondary's Bhangra dance team dance for our school wise assembly and teach us a dance. They also taught us a little bit about Diwali and shared some of their family traditions on Diwali. 

Following the Annual Organization Meeting on November 7, the Abbotsford Board of Education has elected its leadership team for the next year. Trustee Korky Neufeld will continue as Board Chair, with Trustee Preet Rai stepping up as the new Vice Chair.

Thank you to the students and staff who prepared a song or poem for our school wide assembly. Our trustee liaison, Stan Peterson, was so impressed with the performances, student behaviour and the whole assembly. Also thank you to Mrs. Phillips for organizing the lovely assembly.
