Jungle Gym

January 25, 2022

The Sandy Hill Suns are completing a three week unit of jungle gym. Since we have no rentals currently we capitalized on the time and extended our gymnastics unit. The first week the students covered jumps, landing, and rolls. The second week was all about "Ninja Challenges" and seeing how long they could plank or hold a front support, testing themselves at passing and catching medicine balls while balancing on box horses and benches, pushing themselves to see how many times they could go up and down the cargo net or back and forth on the monkey bars, exerting themselves to see how many "straight arm start" chin ups they could accomplish, and conquering their fears and exhaustion to climb to the top of the ropes or top of the peg board.

These are the final records by grade and gender for our Ninja Challenges. The number in brackets is the student-athlete's division. We have some extremely dedicated plankers and climbers! By the way... those plank times are legit! No bottoms sticking up in the air or coming off elbows; although students that went passed 15 minutes were allowed  to stretch one arm at a time!

This week we are focusing on "PARKOUR" and have built a multi-route obstacle course where the gym floor is lava and all they can touch are the mats or apparatus to see how many laps they can complete in a class. Coming up in PE...basketball and floor hockey. ðŸ˜Š
