Sandy Hill Elementary Students Raise Funds for Accessible Playground

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and determination, a group of students from Sandy Hill Elementary School have taken it upon themselves to help raise funds for an important cause - building an accessible playground at our school so that all students can enjoy the benefits of outdoor play with their friends.

Inspired by the fundraising efforts that have been going on at Sandy Hill all year, Nova, Aspyn, Ava, London, Ella, Lexi, Ryah, Olivia, and Kacie decided to set up lemonade stands in their front yards after school to raise money for accessible playground equipment. Their first three stands alone have raised close to $200, all of which they have generously donated towards the playground equipment.

In addition to the lemonade stands, the Sandy Hill community has been raising money for this cause all year. Parents, students, and school staff have all pitched in by attending Funky Friday Dance Parties, buying freezies on Freezie Fridays, and participating in various PAC fundraisers, including a recent Bake Sale.

Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our community, Sandy Hill Elementary School has been able to break ground and begin building the new playground equipment this week. This project not only benefits current students, but also future students, ensuring that inclusivity and accessibility remain at the forefront of our school's values.

The story of these lemonade stands serves as a powerful reminder that no act of kindness is too small, and no person is too young to make a significant difference in their community. Nova, Aspyn, Ava, London, Ella, Lexi, Ryah, Olivia, and Kacie have shown that with determination and compassion, anything is possible. Their actions are a shining example of the positive impact young people can have when they come together for a common cause.
