Welcome Back! Important September Back to School Information

Welcome back to Sandy Hill!

Dear families, welcome back!  We are getting the school all set to welcome your children on September 2, 2025.  Please remember that the first day is a half day with dismissal at 11:35 am.

On the first day of school, grade 1 through 5 students will enter as grade groups through the exterior classroom doors when the teachers welcome you in at the first bell at 8:32am. A school map with details have been emailed to parents and will also be posted at the front of the school. Please don’t forget a filled and labelled water bottle and a peanut free recess snack.

Kindergarten parents should have a private interview session scheduled for the first week of school. Additional details have been sent out to families. School maps will also be posted at the front of the school and the full gradual entry schedule can be found on our school website calendar.

Please remember to be a good neighbor and follow the posted signs when parking and dropping off and picking up students.

Bus lane/drop off pick up: Please remember that the bus lane for quick drop off and pick up is provided to parents as a courtesy.  Your child should be able to independently exit the vehicle and have their backpack ready with them in the vehicle. We request that you do not block the entrance or back up onto the road and if you are asked to move your vehicle by a bus driver or staff member, please do so.  For additional details, please visit our school website.

If you have grandparents or other caregivers doing drop off or pick up, please share this information with them.

Please, No Animals On School Grounds

Animals are not to be brought onto school grounds unless authorized by special request through the school's administrator's or your child's teacher i.e. a show and tell project or assistance dogs.  This is not only a health concern but more importantly it is a safety issue.

Bike Safety – We encourage students to bike to school. We have a lovely bike rack at the front of the school where they can be locked up. Please remember to wear an approved bicycle helmet and dismount and walk your bike on school property. Please visit ICBC’s Cycling Safety site for more information.

Lost and Found – Please label all student belongings.

Our lost and found always gets filled quickly. Please ensure that you label all of your child’s belongings so that we can return any lost items to them.

School Supply Lists for the 2025/2026 school year are posted on our school website. There is an option to purchase kits through School Start. Please visit our website for more information.
