BC School Fruit and Vegetable Nutritional Program

Dear parents / guardians,

Sandy Hill Elementary has again been chosen as one of the schools to participate in the BC School Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program, and the additional milk program for all students this year sponsored by ActNowBC and distributed by Save On Foods / Overwaitea and PriceSmart.  As part of this program our school will receive free fruit and vegetables and milk throughout the school year!  There will be enough produce and milk delivered to our school to provide a nutritious snack to each and every child within our school community.  That’s a lot of fruit and vegetables and milk!

The Goals and Objectives of the program are :

Encourage consumption of more BC fruits and vegetables and dairy
Inform students and their families

That fruit and vegetables are grown in BC
That fruit and vegetables are important for health benefits

The parents and staff at Sandy Hill continue to teach kids about the importance of being In Motion, making good food choices and being involved in heart healthy activities.  We are once again thrilled to have this opportunity to continue to provide healthy opportunities to our students.

If you have any further questions about the program please do not hesitate to contact us at the school.

Thank you in advance for your support of this exciting opportunity.

If your child has any allergies to fruit and vegetables or to milk that you would like us to know about or if you would like your child to NOT participate in the fruit and vegetable program at any time throughout the school year please complete the tear off section of the file below and return it with your child to his / her classroom teacher ASAP.
